Many refugees flee to Sicily across the Mediterranean Sea from North Africa. The migrants are trying to escape wars and conflicts, oppression, and persecution. JJ’s work focuses on meeting the spiritual, physical, and socioeconomic needs of the migrants and refugees. The group will also see Tim’s work in integrating different cultures, traditions, ethnicities, and languages into a single worshipping community.
The April 18-27 trip to Italy will give RCA women a chance to learn more about the global refugee crisis, engage with women and children in diverse communities, and experience a variety of Italian history, art, and architecture. Because of the sensitive nature of the refugees’ realities, this trip is only open to women; and participants must be at least 18 years old, able to walk at least three miles a day, and special dietary requests will be hard to accommodate.
