Job Description – Youth & Education Director
Statement of Faith
The Youth & Education Director is often the first person the public sees or talks to. In that sense, the Youth & Education Director acts as Pastor, church and denomination to visitors or callers. Therefore, it is important that the Youth & Education Director has accepted Jesus Christ as his/her Lord and Savior and is always an ambassador for Christ and in all places.
Job Description
The Youth & Education Director assists the Pastor in the Christian education of the school age children. She/he oversees the curriculum, assumes responsibility for the preparation of the space and acquires supplies and materials as needed. The Youth & Education Director must create an environment that is inviting for all who enter the educational setting. The Youth & Education Director is supervised by the Pastor, the Personnel Director and the Chairperson/Consistory Liaison of the Youth & Education Committee. This is a salaried position for an average of 10 hours a week. The schedule can be flexible and is to be determined between the Pastor and the Youth & Education Director. She/he is responsible for notifying the Pastor three weeks in advance of planned absences and working with the Pastor to secure a competent replacement, if necessary.

Qualifications
- Be a person of Christian faith.
- Adhere to the principles of the Reformed Church in America.
- Have a friendly, caring attitude and excellent people skills.
- Have good clerical and computer skills.
- Have effective verbal communication skills with children and adults.
- Have effective written communication skills, including editing and publishing.
- Have high integrity and trustworthiness, including the use of discretion regarding information on Church life and ministry, as well as the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn new tasks and functions.
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a professional manner with church members and staff.
Areas of Responsibility
Sunday School/Praise & Worship
- Study, request and prepare curriculum as needed.
- Supplement/adjust /write curriculum as needed and review with the Pastor.
- Recruit teachers and volunteers.
- Handle incoming/outgoing communication regarding Christian Education.
- Collaborate with teachers and volunteers for long-range and short-term planning of
curriculum, lessons, and activities.
- Work in collaboration with the other Church Boards and Committees.
- Recruit and plan special events and programs not included in the regular Sunday programs. Special events and programs include, Welcome of Sunday School Children, Christmas Program, Vacation Bible School, Children’s’ Day
- Provide a monthly report to the Consistory along with a yearly report for congregational meeting. Attendance of monthly Consistory meetings is optional.
Vacation Bible School
- Study, request and prepare curriculum as needed.
- Supplement/adjust/write curriculum as needed and reviewed by Pastor.
- Handle incoming communication regarding this program.
- Recruit teachers and volunteers.
- 5. Collaborate with teachers and volunteers for long-range and short-term planning of
curriculum, lessons and activities.
- Work in collaboration with the other Church Boards and Committees.
- Provide a preparatory report to the Consistory prior to the start of VBS.
- Completion of RCA Grant for monies for Vacation Bible School.
- Provide a final report to the Consistory upon completion of VBS, including a financial statement.
Organizational
- Keep track of supplies. Purchase and restock as needed.
- Make sure the areas of educational use are always kept neat and orderly.
- Maintain a phone chain(s) of all teachers/volunteers involved in the programs.
- Maintain and update Sunday School attendance and registration, permission consent forms as needed for activities and social media consent/release of information forms.
- Create and maintain monthly updates for monthly newsletter and social media postings
Financial
- All monies are to be given to the Church office for a deposit. A copy of the financial record will be given to the Chair of Youth and Education monthly.
- Keep records of all financial transactions for VBS and Children programs. All monies are to be given to the Church Treasurer for a deposit. A copy of the financial record will be given to the Chair of Youth and Education monthly.
- Forward all vouchers received to the correct committee Chair for approval.
This is a Salaried position with a yearly salary of $7,800.00
