The Regional Synod of New York

Volunteerism heightens the awareness of how God is working within the life of the RSNY!

As I reflect on volunteerism within our Church, I am reminded of the many years the Regional Synod of New York hosted an annual banquet to honor volunteers from every congregation across the Synod. It was a special time to recognize individuals who often served quietly yet faithfully to strengthen our church communities. It was also a moment to celebrate and encourage the work being carried out in the life of God’s Church.

As I think about our Synod’s church leaders, I give thanks for their tangible contributions to diversity, inclusion, and justice within our multicultural congregations. I also celebrate those who have helped us care for God’s creation by teaching about ecosystems and the importance of preserving our shared earth. I am grateful for our Christian educators who develop skills and share their passion for teaching through Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, childcare centers, and tutorial programs.

I also give thanks for the voices that support mission services and global missionaries; for the women’s and men’s ministries that encourage parental care and spiritual nurture within the life of the church; and for the delegates with servant hearts who support the work of the Regional Synod of New York through committees. I honor the ministers and elders who have served as officers and represented the Synod at General Synod and in other ecumenical bodies, as well as specialized ministers who faithfully offer their gifts in ministries of healing.

As we move into Middle Assemblies as a region, I encourage us to continue celebrating the impact of volunteering in our churches and to promote volunteerism for generations to come.
