The Regional Synod of New York

Looking Ahead…

Planning our Work for the Year Ahead.

Building on a base of victories and breakthroughs in our faith…

Since reopening after the Covid-19 period, we have measured time by meaningful events and milestones that shape our ministry and shared purpose, especially following the end of General Synod in 2025. We continually ask ourselves where we made progress, where we faced setbacks, and what lessons will shape our work in the months ahead as Pastors, Elders, and Deacons.

While some hurt and difficult questions remain, our conversations have resulted in meaningful progress, new ideas, and renewed spiritual energy. Significant moments remind us of our identity in Christ Jesus and direction as a church, motivating us to seek guidance from the Holy Spirit to continue our ministry.

Earlier this summer, a team of Classes leaders led by RSNY held discussions to clarify the rubric for RSNY in order to modify General Synod’s directives, aiming to guide Regional Synods in engaging effectively with Classes. The Task Force committees discussed how various Middle Assemblies might be governed, shaped, and resourced. The discussions were designed to gain a principle to guide our Classes in focusing on the Ministry and less Systematic and Organizational separation. The Committee’s work is essential, and so is our place as a Regional Synod.

These achievements or recommendations will not occur automatically. Our achievements were made possible by thoughtful planning, active discussions among members, input from our Classes and RSNY Officers, and strong advocacy from our community. Let us take this moment to continue to reflect, prepare, prayer and focus our efforts toward building meaningful Middle Assemblies in the coming years.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers on Middle Assembly, but more importantly, we hope you enjoy the remaining days before the official end of summer and that they bring rest, renewal, and inspiration in the Christian Ministry.

Continue to enjoy this season! You deserve it!
