Theme: “Journey Together: Walking With Christ”
Scripture Theme: Luke 23:30-32

On the 16th we will offer educational opportunities including: Sexual Harassment Training and Boundary Training. On the 17th, we will have “Engaging in Mission,” a missionary discussion with JJ TenClay and Bob Abel.

“Congregational Health, Safety & Wellness”

Calling All Pastors, Church Board Members, Moderators, Trustees, Congregational Leaders, and Church Members:

In today’s divisive society keeping everyone safe can be a challenge, even in church. If you’re seeking tools to provide a safe, healthy worshipping environment, this is the Learning Event for you.

This year’s Continuing Education Institute will address a variety of congregational safety concerns Register now for an important time of learning, fellowship & worship.

The Institute begins May 16th at 10:00 am at First Congregational Church, Poughkeepsie, 269 Mill Street, Poughkeepsie, NY.

  • TRACK ONE:
    “An Ounce of Prevention”
    –New York State Employer Sexual Harassment Training
    –Safe Church Policy & Active Shooter Preparation
    –Understanding Mental Health & Wellness in Congregations

  • TRACK TWO:
    ” A Biblical Perspective”
    A systems theory approach to understanding Paul’s letters to the Corinthian Church. What are the behaviors and characteristics of a healthy church?

    Rev. Dr. David Cleaver-Bartholomew
  • TRACK THREE:
    ” Boundary Awareness Training”
    Learn the healthy and ethical ministerial boundaries required of all authorized ministers in the United Church of Christ.
    This course fulfills the refresher Ministerial Standing requirement and, for the first time, this course will be open to lay persons.

  • Child Sex Trafficking & Refugee Displacement
    Reformed Church in America Missionaries, Rev. Bob Abel and JJ TenClay will share their work in addressing sex trafficking of children and issues surrounding refugee displacement. These presentations will provide information on ways your church can become involved in these vital humanitarian ministries.
